I have my endocrinologist appointment later today- I want to get off shots. I joined the Y- and can’t go for the next month because of my heel spur. I am a team leader for Live Healthy KC and can’t do much activity because of the heel spur and the plantar fascitus, I am the team captain for the KC AIDS Walk- and won’t be able to walk this year because of the PF and heel spur too!!

I work at KSD- the State of Kansas is in the hole- budget wise and I might get my hours cut- may have sick leave cut (wonderful- since I am needing it right now for my stupid feet!) or/and cutting paid holidays… I finally get a decent job and then it turns on me. So we will keep praying.

No job prospects for Bud either. Very frustrating there. He could work at Taco Bell- or someplace like that- but the pay would suck compared to his unemployment. So it isn’t worth it.

I am kinda regretting leaving Sorenson- but at the same time- I get to spend time with my family again.  I am seeing Nathan more- and I think in general he is a happier kid having his Mom around more. Money or family?

Speaking of Nathan- I register him for Kindergarten March 25th. WOW!! He will be 5 in July- and is already planning his birthday party- and getting excited about riding the school bus. Hard to get used to- he is doing so much for himself these days. He is a smart little booger too. He loves to read- and sound out letters and he is quite the little bowler. Not sure if I mentioned it or not- but he is back in a league. He was the only kid on his team until last week. He has a coach and last week he bowled an 80! We practice every Sunday after church – yesterday he bowled a 70- but he was very whiney yesterday-I think he was tired. We will see what he does on Tuesday I guess.

We watched the Super Bowl- and it was “okay” we had to switch over to “Wipeout” during half-time. Nathan is addicted to that show. He bawled when we switched it back to the game. Kurt Warner is the man!!! I was sad to see the Cardinals lose the way they did- but with all the penalties…

Super Bowl Sunday is a hard day for me. My dad died 3 years ago- right as they had the kick-off. I have cried the past 2 years during the National Anthem and until the kick off- I was definitely a “daddy’s girl” and it still hurts my heart.

I wish I could sleep like a normal person. I haven’t slept well in a long time. Don’t know if it is all the money stress, health-pain, or worries or a combination of it all. If I don’t sleep it affects my blood sugars- terribly. I don’t know where to turn at this point. prescriptions definitely may be in order- but costs- are outrageous! 

Oh- almost forgot to share my insurance problems! I signed up for a new plan- one that covers Bud’s and I’s lab work since we have to get our med levels and stuff checked so often. So- Oct I change it to “plan B” and then in November I had to resign from my CNA job so they could post the job- so I did. Well-HR put in for my resignation.  Mid November I get my current job (a promotion!) and somehow that promotion did not register in the system. Bud needed a prescription at the end of November and I called insurance and they said – well your policy ends November 30th! WHAT????!!!! So, I contact HR… yep- find out their error. Have to re-apply for my plan from last year for the month of December. So I did… I asked them – will I need to reapply for January- NO- you won’t have to do that! Fine… so I didn’t.. I get my new cards- they have me on the wrong plan! I am so irritated… so I contact HR again. I had to fill out a “communication form” and mail it-  I can’t fax it… so I mailed it… 3 weeks later- still no change. So again- I went into HR office. I had to reapply again- and fax the form this time (duh- why couldn’t I do that to begin with?) Then Saturday I get a letter saying that I re-applied to add my husband and son- and that I shouldn’t have- because they were already covered… ??????? It is all- goofed (would really rather add a harder descriptive word there) up. UGH!!!!

 Well- I think my pain pill is kicking in… gonna try and go back to bed and redeem some more rest of some kind…

my little bowler

She and her hubby and son and nephew saw Monster Jam in Des Moines. Her brother works at the Arena where they were at! We had awesome seats! Thanks big brother Steve!!!!  

Then we came back here. Oh yes, the night of Monster Jam it was ice and frozen and slippery and frigid cold there and I heard that here in KS it was 68 degrees!!! That sucks!!!!

Ok- Nathan needs some mommy time- so gotta go!

We had the Christmas in Wentzville and Centralia, and even here in Olathe. We have our Iowa Christmas next week.

Nathan was told he couldn’t open presents until Aunt Jen came. She finally came and he gave her a hug and ran to the tree and began to open presents! We were still downstairs greeting Jen! He got his shiny new bowling ball.

 Along with his own bowling shirt and rolling bag for his ball. He is quite the bowler. We went bowling on Monday and will go again before the new year I think. Maybe tomorrow after church.

Bud and I went out and saw “YES MAN” at the theatre. It was funny. Not like fall out of your seat funny…. but funny.  I have been feeling pretty down lately… Missing my sister and dad a bit, and I was diagnosed with plantar fascitus in my right foot and it is pretty painful. So- I needed a laugh or two.

Nathan asked for “Corn Dogs” at the Santa at the Tree Farm.  He asked for WALL-E toys from the Santa we get pictures at, and he asked for a WALL-E cake at the Santa at his pre-school.

So- anyway— that is the main highlights of our Christmas. We went to our friend’s the Robidoux’s for lunch on Christmas day and played UNO Flash.

Today is “Clean UP!” day- the house is a mess- from all the comings and goings of the past few weeks and since I left Sorenson a few weeks ago- I am beginning to get some things organized. We definitely have too much “stuff!” andwe need to downsize- It is hard because I am a “memory” person. Things I find and come across- bring such memories and I hve a hard time letting g0.  But it is time to say “goodbye” to these so I can say “hello” to new memories.

My horoscope todaysaid that I could relax now that my job crisis is over- too funny!! I got my final papers from Sorenson today. I was offered short term overtime at KSD.  How ironic is that?

Having Christmas with the in-laws. Picked up Nathan’s bowling ball at the Pro Shop- he will get it on Saturday. We are going bowling after Christmas. I can’t wait for him to use it!! We got an 8lb ball so he can grow into it. I will post pics later after we get back from bowling.

I wrapped Nathan’s presents while he was gone on Saturday to a Christmas party and he said “Mommy, my presents got big while I ws gone!” too funny! This from a kid that has asked Santa for corndogs (yes!) and WALL-E toys and a WALL-E cake. What a goof!

Been Christmas shopping. Got Bud’s presents finished today.  We picked out a bowling ball today (Nathan and I) and it will be here in about a week and we can put it under the Christmas tree! Not sure what else to get him. Grammy and Papa got him a bag to put it in.

I have found myself on more than one occasion doing “ministry” at work.  I like that. KSD is definitely where I belong. I get to sign- I get to mess around on the computer and I get to minister- all in ONE!!! What more could a girl ask for?

I am leaving my video relay job. I have been screwed over so many times since April. I’ve had it!!!!! Since I came to this decision I have felt calmer and more human like. So I think this is a good thing. Nathan has told me so many times he doesn’t like me because I am gone all the time. Nathan is our ONE AND ONLY and I really don’t want to miss him growing up. Plus, our house is a pit. I can’t get “my room” done because I am gone.

Took Nathan to see Santa! Santa at Town Center Mall. The same Santa that told us our first Christmas married (2003) that he wanted us to bring children to him next year. I found out a week later that we were pregnant! So he is a special Santa. Anyway—– we met up with the Robidoux’s but Taylor was a tiny bit scared of Santa- so we just got Nathan’s picture and then went to dinner with them to California Pizza Co. Expensive!!!!

Gonna skip church tomorrow- we all have really bad head colds.

We left for the in-laws about 4 and got here about 8 or so. Had to stop at Arby’s where Nathan had to stuff all the roast beef from his sandwhich into his tiny mouth at once. NOT A Pretty SITE!

He got Wall-E from Grammy and PaPa and so at 9:30 we started watching it. Got him to bed about 11:30. The little guy was up at 6:30!! 

Tonight- Michael’s opens up at 6pm. I gotta go get some Cricut cartridges. Super deal on them!!!

   This ornament is a lunch box and it comes with a thermos inside. I got this while traveling when  I was a full-time youth minister for the Community of Christ.  I did not know it would interfere with the airport’s security system- because Hallmark put tiny bb’s inside the thermos! So it almost didn’t make it into my collection.

 Nathan is having a Wall-E year. He is totally addicted to ANYTHING WALL-E! He walkes around putting things in his shirt and then drops them and says “Look a trash cube!”

 Well we have more ornaments to share but I am needing to do some other things today- so check back later for the rest of our favorite ornaments.

Ok- Sunday I turned 39. Which means I can’t use the phrase “30-something” too much longer. Where has my life gone?

We went to Iowa for my birthday.  Every year we got up for it. I still can’t get used to not celebrating with my sister Shelly. She and I were 9 years and 5 days apart.  So we often celebrated together.  Oh well- life keeps happening.

Bud is allergic to cats so we get a hotel and Nathan gets to stay at Gram’s. Gram had a meeting at the church so we got up on Sat morning and brought him back to the hotel to go swimming.  On our way to Mom’s it started snowing.

 The pool was not heated in any way. So we froze for about 10minutes and then went back to our room and waited for Gram to get home. She finally called and we went to the Mall. We ate at the food court and I got to go to CJ Banks to get some new clothes for work. Then-BOWLING!!! For all my new blog readers- my son is a bowling fanatic and was on a league this summer.  I beat the boys with a score of 106. Nathan had an 86 and Bud had an 89.  Next we went back to Mom’s and decided to go to Red Robin for my birthday dinner. Yes, we have a Red Robin in Olathe but I wanted to check out the “ritzy” part of West Des Moines.  They did not have my Burger Parmigiana on the menu thought!!! So I had a Sicilian. Not as good. Bud told them it was my birthday so they sang. David and Nathan ate my ice cream. I was glad DW came along.  Then we went back to Mom’s again and it was time for cake. I had a chocolate chip cookie for my “cake” and Mom called it “the lighting of the fire” We ate some and started playing games. DW and I have a standing order to play UNO. We have UNO attack and UNO spin and for my birthday we got UNO flash! We also dug out the Electronic Monopoly. Nathan helped with throwing the dice. Bud and I headed back to the hotel and Sunday we ate Chinese for lunch and headed back to KS. 

Bud and Nathan got me 2 decks of cards which are STAR WARS themed Heroes and Villans.  I got an eyeball – ball and a plastic snake and a really lame CD with birthday music on it.  Bud drove home for me too.

Back to the grind after that.  I interviewed on Monday for the job I have been working since August. I was nervous since there were two other applicants being interviewed but I got it!! So Bud and I went out for lunch to celebrate! 

Normally we put up the Christmas Tree on my birthday but because of all the commotion of going to Iowa – we did not put it up on Sunday. I forgot about it and Friday morning Nathan asked if we could put it up. So my next blog will feature that event.
